Good thesis statement about working moms versus stay at home moms?

Friday, July 22nd, 2011
leesa asked:

I am writing an essay on working moms versus stay at home moms. I am not taking a side as I feel both have benefits and disadvantages which vary depending on the situation of the parents involved. So I don’t have a specific side so what would be a good example of a thesis statement for this?
There are several advantages and disadvantages of working moms and stay at home moms, one cannot determine if one is correct and one is incorrect.

Does this sound proper?

As a stay at home mom, do you feel looked down upon by working mom’s or society in general?

Thursday, July 14th, 2011
Just me asked:

I ask this question because, as a stay at home mom, I feel this way 90% of the time. My working friends, some moms, so not moms, will call me on their lunch breaks at noon and say things like ” oh I’m sorry, were you sleeping?” Was I sleeping? Are you kidding me. No actually I’ve been up since 6 am. I made breakfast with one hand, while packing school lunches with the other. I really want to say actually, right now, I’m scrubbing toilets, doing laundry, blogging, making beds and talking to you all at the same time, is their something you needed? And when I’m done with all of that, I have to pick up kids, help with homework and make dinner, oh yeah and one has piano practice tonight, and the other has soccer, so sometime around 4:30 today, I have to literally figure out how to spit myself in half so I can be in two places at one time. I am so tired of when someone asks me “what do you do?” or “where do you work?” I proudly say I am a mom, then you get the “Oh”, followed by the look, and the snide smile. It’s so annoying, and condescending. I don’t like being looked down upon because I choose to be a stay at home mom. I stress the word choose. It hard being a mom, I choose to devote all my time to it, why does that bother some people so much?

I had more energy as a working mom than as a stay at home mom. Why?

VGirl asked:

I am 33, I have a 4 year old (who is not in daycare), I went from working to being a stay at home mom, but I have less energy than I did when I was working when he was 2. Is this common? My son is very well mannered compared to other kids, but he wants so much of my attention. I am trying to teach him to play without me and it usually turns into him pouting and me getting pissed.

I am also in college fulltime, and it is the hardest thing to do because by the time I get my little one in bed, my mind is so tired that I can’t even study. I take him to the play areas to try to study while he plays, but I am either distracted by him or other kids about to do dangerous things, or other parents trying to talk to me.

How are others doing this with so much energy? Some days I want to scream because I am so tired and stressed.
When I get pissed, I don’t say anything at him because I know he just wants my time. I can’t afford daycare because I am not working. I think because we are always around each other it gets a bit much at times and I need a break from him. But I can’t afford it.
